Berthe’ Gaines is named to Boston Public Library Board of Trustees.

The first African-American appointed to the Boston Public Library Board of Trustees, Gaines was co-founder with Alice Hennessey of the Save Our Libraries organization advocating for branch libraries. She subsequently becomes the first woman to serve as board president.
